A Friendly Amateur Group producing outstanding SHOWS

The Players Theatre Company is a professionally-run, amateur theatre group based in Buckinghamshire.

Performing two or more shows a year, we are always keen to add more talented cast, crew, and supporting brilliance to our merry band.

This video was us preparing Midsummer Night's Dream in 2023.

"What an absolutely brilliant massive production of Tonight at 8.30! 

Nine plays which featured a super talented cast, incredible sets and costumes! 

This was an epic production to take on by any Company and it was played to absolute perfection. 

It was quite honestly the most professional amateur production I have ever seen. 

Huge congratulations to the director Sarah and the multi talented cast, I can’t wait to see your Shakespeare production in the summer!"

The plays, the Scripts, and the Performances

First Folio

Our annual Shakespeare performances will use Shakespeare's First Folio scripts - to get closest to the form of the plays as originally performed. (You can download all the plays here).

Modern Meaning

We'll obviously bring to life the meaning of the text for modern audiences! 


To understand the text, there are some great reference tools.

We'll rehearse using the Arden Shakespeare 3rd edition texts. These have comprehensive notes on background, meaning, and more.

(A full Arden 3rd series of all Shakespeare plays is also available with fewer individual notes).


There are also some fantastic online resources analysing character, words, and meaning. LitCharts.com is excellent, for example. (Links for each play below).
